Devanagari Unicode fonts are use widely when it comes to Hindi, Marathi and Nepali websites. Sometimes whole content of a website displayed in single Unicode font, it may be heading, footer notes labels or even website title. The most used and common Devanagari Unicode font is mangal and this font comes already with all latest Microsoft operating systems.

Normally we want our text formatting in a proper manner weather it Devanagari or other language script. Changing the fonts for Headings or labels a little is always a good idea. But While using our browser we see that a same font is introducing us to that Hindi or Marathi website. By default generally a web browser show Devanagari texts in mangal fonts and it can be noticed in mozilla firefox, internet explorer and google chrome. So when a Devanagari script website (like Hindi, Marathi, Nepali and Sanskrit) is opened in all these three browser, they will show us the same font mangal for texts as below-

But when the same google search appear in Opera browser the font look quite different and new. Because the this is not mangal font its Aparajita Unicode font that is preinstalled in all latest windows operating systems and now set as a default font for Devanagari script for Opera.

So all the Devanagari texts will appear in aparajita font for opera browser. Like aparajita there are some more Devanagari Unicode fonts available including mangal like Arial Unicode MS, Kokila, Utsaah which are inbuilt. Can I change it in my browser?

Yes, Unicode font can be customized in every browser for every language. Mozilla firefox and Internet Explorer user can also view their all Hindi Devanagari text in aparajit font like Opera users with lots of features like font size, minimum font size, sherif font, sans sherif fonts, monospace fonts etc.

Changing Unicode font in Mozilla Firefox:

There are lot of users of mozilla firefox and customize their browser with different plug-ins and themes. Like these features we can also customize the default Devanagari font with few easy steps.
Follow these steps for your mozilla firefox browser:

Step 1:

 Open menu in firefox and click on Options.

Step 2:

You will get a option window. Now open Content tab in option window. A dropdown list of font can be seen here. I've selected Devanagari font CDAC-GISTSurekh font that why my all tabs are in Devanagari font. Font size is also cusotmizable. I recommend to keep your font size 16px or higher for all Devanagari fonts.

Step 3:

For more customization like other script fonts and particular font setting for sherif, sans sherif and monospace fonts go to more option in above window.

By selecting Devanagari you will get all installed Devanagari Unicode fonts as a dropdown list there automatically. Select your fonts and get individual fonts for every style.

Step 4:

Apply/Save your settings and Restart browser.
You are done!

Changing Unicode font in Internet Explorer:

Like mozilla firefox IE users can also set desired Hindi Devanagari font for their browser. But here the navigation is little different.
Follow these steps to change your Unicode font:

Step1:

Find Tools option in menu bar and click on Internet Options.

Step 2:

You will see a new window. In General tab click on Font button as shown in below image.

Step 3:

Select Devanagari script in Language script option dropdown list. Now all installed Devanagari Unicode fonts will appear here as list automatically. Select your desired font in that list.

Step 4:

Apply/Save settings and Restart your browser.
Your are done!

Changing Unicode font in Opera Browser:

As I already mentioned that Opera do not following the trend of using default Unicode font as mangal. Aparajita font is used by Opera browser for Devanagari script by default.
Your browsers get new Unicode font through following steps:

Step 1:

To change your Devanagari Unicode font go to Opera main menu, select setting and open preferences:

Go to Advanced tab and select Fonts in list. You will see a button named International fonts. Click on International Fonts.

Step 3:

By clicking on that button you will get a new window International fonts. Select Devanagari in writing system tab. Now all installed Devanagari Unicode fonts in your system will appear there as list.

Step 4:

Apply/Save your settings and Restart your browser to make your new setting effective.
You are done!
To add some nice Devanagari Unicode fonts in your list download and install these fonts in your system.

Note: There may be little changes in navigation to change the Unicode fonts as these browsers update and introduce new features continuously by time period.
